Both are licensing exams in the legal sense: a pass is one step of a state license, not a credential in its own right. The mortgage test is one national exam with no state add-on parts, and loan officers registered through a federally regulated bank or credit union do not take it. The insurance exam is the opposite: each state writes its own, so its row can only give ranges, and the life and health exam facts set the states side by side.

These two healthcare certification exams are voluntary credentials for clinicians who already hold a license. The first split between them is the license itself. Of these two, LPN/LVN, PTA and OTA holders qualify only for the WCC, while dietitians, pharmacists and veterinarians qualify only for the CWS; ABWM also runs a separate associate credential, the CWCA, that takes LPN/LVN and PTA holders. The CWS adds a longer experience bar (license + 3 years wound care), and its exam is delivered only at test centers. The wound care page compares the two in full.

The flight paramedic exam asks only for a current, unrestricted paramedic license; the experience IBSC suggests is advice, not a gate. Its 135 questions come in two timed halves, and after you close out the first half it is locked.

Renewal cycles differ more than the exams do. The mortgage license comes up every year and needs at least 8 hours CE a year. The CWS asks for 6 hours of wound care CE each calendar year and a passing exam every 10 years. The WCC and the FP-C run longer cycles with continuing education or a retest, and insurance renewal belongs to the state (usually 2 years).
